To celebrate Tula Pink’s Prince Charming being 25% off this week, I thought I’d whip up a couple of totes in her laminated cotton. I also made them because our cheap-o store bought grocery totes are on their last legs and I wanted some pretty ones so I no longer have to be ashamed of my gross ones in the check out line.
Laminated cotton is the modern iteration of traditional oilcloth, with a polyurethane coating on one side instead of the traditional linseed oil treated fabric. It can be ironed face down using a pressing cloth, and really only needs a walking foot to machine sew (no teflon foot or masking tape required!). I used this pattern from the Purl Bee to make these totes, and two different Prince Charming laminates, Frog Prince in Indigo and Dew Drops in Indigo. This pattern was so simple to put together that I’ll probably make a couple more using Anna Maria Horner’s LouLOUthi laminates.
Our entire collection of laminates is on sale for 25% off through 11/27, so be sure to pick some up to make some fabulous (and practical!) gifts like reusable grocery totes, lunch bags, sandwich bags, and even water-proof bike panniers (those bags you hang off a bike rack).
